Berchmans Mau Bria began his career in 1982 and has amassed approximately 40 years of work experience, including 32 years in development projects funded by international donor agencies such as USAID, WHO, AusAID (DFAT), and the Clinton Health Access Initiative Foundation. These projects focused on eradicating malaria, providing clean water and sanitation, and combating HIV and AIDS.
In addition to his work with these organizations, Berchmans has served as a short-term consultant for several institutions, including Family Health International (FHI), Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Amfar AIDS Research, and PKBI (a local NGO). For the past seven years, he has been employed as the Community Development Manager at a mining company on Wetar Island in the Southwest Maluku Regency of Maluku Province.
Over his career, Berchmans has held a variety of positions, starting with administrative roles such as office manager and project secretary for 18 years, followed by managerial positions for the last 22 years. His areas of expertise, developed through both education and extensive work experience, include human resource management, development and training, project and financial management, and community development and empowerment.
